Chapel with a Font

The designed chapel with a baptismal font is located on the territory of the Church of the Protection of the Holy Mother of God in Minsk. The architecture of the chapel follows the overall style of the church condominium. The chapel is located to the west of the main temple, in the green area of the compound in a place specially designated for it. The proximity of ground water and a nearby historical spring allows to organize a font inside the chapel. The building is single-storey and is located in the lowered part of the terrain, between the trees, so as not to disrupt the overall composition of the structure and the dimensions of the temple complex, as well as its environmental aspect. The chapel is 6 meters high. The building consists of a porch, two locker rooms, a technical room with a tank for holy water and two rooms (for men and for women) with a font.

Project: Chapel with a Font on the territory of the Church of the Holy Protection
Location: Minsk, Belarus
Capacity: 20 persons (both sections)
Temple area: 35.5 square meters
Stage: Construction project
Year: 2020
There is one entrance to the porch (three steps from the ground level), with two doors leading to the men's and women's sections from the porch. Opposite the entrance there is a spacious niche with an icon as well as a source of holy water. The main areas of the chapel are covered with pitched roofs with traditional corbel arches. A small square-section drum with a weathervane on it is designed on top of the building.
The building is not heated but it has power supply for lighting and running water for the font. There is a tank in the technical room for the consecration of water and an option of outputting it to the street in special taps. The very font is divided into two parts for men and women's sections, respectively, but the water supply is the same. The roof covering is folded metal. The windows are supposed to be filled in with stained glass. Also, a stained-glass insert is planned in the upper part of the dividing wall between the sections and the font. All window framing, roof ends, and corbel arches are decorated with carved ornamental elements. There is a decorative carved white-stone framed cross on the facade situated in the trapeze-shaped apse in the rear part of the building.
