The guesthouse for one of the sketes of the Valaam Stavropegic Transfiguration Monastery is designed in a modern style. This allows not to disturb the general architectural ensemble of the monastery and the natural landscape.
The house stands on piles bearing the frame structure. Inside, there is a large living room and a refectory with a kitchen area. In a separate block there is a guestroom with a bathroom, utility rooms, and an additional exit. The interior space is connected to a spacious terrace by the stained-glass windows. The terrace offers a view of Lake Ladoga.
The combination of materials is consonant with the natural landscape. Stone continues the rocks, wood rhymes with the surrounding pine forest, and glass echoes the water surface of Ladoga.
