EXHIBITION-FESTIVAL OF CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN ART “THE HOUSE OF THE LORD” 2023

OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION-FESTIVAL
On January 25, an exhibition-festival of Christian art, “The House of the Lord,” opened in the Exhibition Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior (Moscow). It brought together the works of modern Orthodox architects, icon painters, and masters of the Arts and Crafts. The event was organized by the Expert Council on Church Art, Architecture, and Restoration of the Russian Orthodox Church. The second is the Guild of Church Builders, which unites the creators of Orthodox temples and works of sacred art.

Here, one can see more than 140 works representing contemporary Church art. The exhibition demonstrates the variety of trends and techniques of Christian art, the artistic search and careful attitude toward tradition, a deep understanding of Orthodox theology, and the desire for sublime beauty.

“I would like to remind you that sacred art is a truly special type of art. It is the pinnacle, the ideal for all artists and creators who want not only to realize their creative talents but also to serve the Lord and the Church." With these words, Bishop Pankratios, prior of the Valaam Transfiguration Monastery and Chairman of the Art Council of the Guild of Church Builders, greeted the guests at the opening of the exhibition.

The Prohram Studio presented architectural projects for cities in Russia and Belarus, as well as works by its icon painters and manufacturers.
