Visual identity for Our Lady of the Sign church in Krasnodar

The visual identity was designed by the Prohram Studio for Our Lady of the Sign Church in Krasnodar. It is in accordance with the general concept of the church. On the one hand, the architecture of the church is laconic and modern. On the other hand, it references Old Russian Southern church architecture, as well as Russian Art Nouveau.

The same style-forming tendencies can be traced in the logo design. There is an immersion in the nature of Old Russian writing and its rethinking in the context of modern tradition.
The visual identity is based on two images. The first one is the iconography of Our Lady of the Sign - Oranta, a prayerful image with raised hands. The second one is Christ; in this case, He is presented in the form of a symbolic Cross. Another key idea is the letter З, the first in the word "Znamenie" (Sign). In this artistic depiction, it is also somewhat reimagined.

Based on this, a number of approaches to design have been developed. The color palette is pastel, based on the architectural design of the church itself, as well as its surroundings. The main colors are dark green and light sand, replacing the standard black and white. Other colors are terracotta, muted green, and turquoise. Terracotta symbolizes the primordiality of clay. Turquoise and green symbolize southern nature. In addition to the logo and the fonts, pattern options have also been designed. They can be used in the design of certain products and merchandise. Examples of the use of the logo and patterns are attached.
