This is the sketch design of a wooden chapel in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker in Karelia. It will stand on a terrain with little black soil, mostly rocks and moss.
The chapel is designed in a contemporary architectural style. It is a frame wooden structure placed on a metal framework on piles lined with stone on the outside. It has insulated walls and is covered with rainscreen made of planks. The walls narrow upward on all four sides. In the upper part, there is the continuous glazing along the perimeter, decorated with stained glass. The entire structure is covered with a gable roof. Upon it, there is a tholobate with a traditional dome covered with wood shingle and a cross.
The doors are to be made of metal, decorated with overlay elements depicting the flourishing cross and the angels.
The chapel is dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, and on the western facade there is a carved icon of him. Above the entrance, in a wooden frieze, there is an image of the Savior Emmanuel with two angels on the sides. Above, there is a stained-glass window with the image of Jesus Christ Not Made by Hands. On the eastern part of the facade, there is a carved wooden panel with the Solovki Cross. In the upper part, there is a stained-glass image of the Prepared Throne.
